Antony is an IP director and member of the firm’s trade mark team and engineering practice groups. He is a European trade mark attorney authorised to practice before the European Union Intellectual Property Office, a chartered trade mark attorney and a European patent attorney. He is actively involved in the acquisition, defence and enforcement of UK and EU wide trade marks as well as drafting, prosecuting and advising on infringement of patents and registered designs in the UK, Europe and internationally.

Antony has been active in the field of intellectual property for nearly 30 years and is, in addition to his extensive experience in the acquisition and management of intellectual property portfolios, experienced in the commercial application of intellectual property, for example in association with electronic market places such an Amazon and eBay, social media platforms such as Facebook, and seeking to maintain component developers/manufacturers in supply chains.

Antony’s depth of experience and active interaction with trade marks, patents and registered designs means that he takes a holistic and pragmatic view when advising his clients. He understands that intellectual property is a tool to enable his clients to prosper and that his clients’ principle aim is generally to get on with their own businesses. Antony’s pragmatic, costed and reasoned advice to his clients is intended to support his clients’ business aims.

Antony’s practice in the trade mark and registered design fields encompasses all technologies. In his patent practice, he is particularly active in the fields of mechanical engineering and composite materials.

Antony regularly attends the International Trade Mark Association (INTA) annual general meeting and he maintains relationships with foreign associate firms worldwide.

Before entering the profession, Antony graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in civil engineering. After university, Antony spent two years as a civil engineer working, in that time, on two large scale construction projects. Antony then entered the intellectual property profession and worked with various private practices prior to joining Swindell & Pearson.

Outside work, Antony lives on a narrow boat for most of the time and enjoys family, cooking and reading. Antony’s favourite items of kitchen equipment are his electric hot smoker, which allows slow smoking/cooking of whatever he puts in the smoker, and his meat mincer/sausage stuffing machine.
