Expansion of European Patent System

March 01, 2011

An agreement between Morocco and the European Patent Office has been signed which will make it possible to validate European patents in Morocco. The agreement will enter into force after the necessary implementing legislation has been passed by the Moroccan parliament. The European patents system provides a cost effective way of obtaining patent protection in a number of states across Europe.

At present, a European patent can potentially protect an invention in all 27 member states of the EU and a number of states outside the EU, including Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. For further information contact Scott Harrison [email protected].
